Every trailer has third-party motor liability insurance. For damage to the trailer itself we recommend the optional damage protection option (CDW).
Transparent billing
You pay the rental price when you book, by credit card or PayPal. Later costs only for damage, a late return or violations – with prior notice (§ 6 T&Cs).
A clear rental agreement
Our T&Cs set out rights and obligations clearly. Fair terms without deposit traps.

Without a deposit: what to look out for
There is no hidden catch, but an honest trade: instead of having a deposit blocked, you as the renter take responsibility for the trailer itself. Third-party motor liability insurance only covers damage to third parties, not to the trailer. This is set out clearly in our T&Cs (§ 13), and you decide for yourself how you protect yourself.
Important to understand: the liability insurance of the tow vehicle only applies to damage to third parties, i.e. if something happens to someone else during transport. You are liable as the renter for damage to the trailer itself (§ 13 T&Cs). With us, your money is not blocked for weeks as a deposit for that. Instead of a deposit, we agree a transparent rental agreement, and under § 6 T&Cs your stored payment method (credit card or PayPal) can only be charged for justified later claims, for example for damage to the trailer, a late return or fines. We always inform you beforehand in text form.
If you want to limit your liability, you can optionally add the damage protection option (CDW, § 5 and § 13 T&Cs). It limits your liability for certain types of damage to an excess of €50 per claim, specifically for theft, fire or explosion, natural events such as storm, hail, lightning or flooding, and collisions with game and other animals. Important, and to be honest: this is not insurance and does not cover every case. Damage from an accident, operating errors, improper use, overloading or incorrect loading, incorrect coupling or uncoupling, manoeuvring errors or vandalism is not covered; you are liable for it under § 13.
Your checklist before booking
Who is liable for damage to the trailer?
With us, you as the renter (§ 13 T&Cs). Third-party liability insurance only covers damage to third parties, not the trailer itself.
What may a stored payment method be charged for?
With us, only for justified claims under § 6 T&Cs, and always with prior notice in text form.
Is there an optional limit on liability?
Yes. The damage protection option (CDW) lowers the excess for certain types of damage to €50 per claim.
What does the damage protection option not cover?
Accidents, operating errors, overloading or incorrect loading, incorrect uncoupling, manoeuvring errors and vandalism are not covered by the €50 limit.
Be sceptical of "fully insured".
The honest split: damage to third parties through the liability insurance, the trailer itself through you as the renter.
