Our trailer is tilting – the loading area lowers towards the back, so you can easily roll the motorcycle on. Some manufacturers use the term 'lowering' in a similar way. What matters is a low ramp height for easy loading.
Class B is always enough, you do not need BE. Our trailer has a fixed gross vehicle weight of 750 kg, and up to that limit class B applies under § 6 (1) FeV without restriction – regardless of whether your tow vehicle is an SUV, an estate or something else. The 3,500 kg limit for the combination only applies to trailers over 750 kg. Only your tow vehicle itself may need a different licence class from a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 t.
