The normal car driving licence, class B, is always enough. What counts is the weight of the trailer: up to a gross vehicle weight of 750 kg, a trailer is covered by class B under § 6(1) FeV (German Driving Licence Regulation), and our trailer has exactly 750 kg GVW – whatever the tow vehicle. The well-known 3,500 kg limit for the combination only applies to trailers over 750 kg. Only if your tow vehicle itself has a gross vehicle weight of more than 3.5 t do you need a different licence class for it.
